LEARNING TO DRAW

Drawing Portraits – Faces & Viewpoints

FULL-FACE PORTRAITS | DRAWING PROFILES | THREE-QUARTER FACES

Join us for a series of portraiture drawing sessions. Whether you are new to portraiture or drawing regularly, this series is a masterclass in drawing faces. You’ll learn to draw faces from three different angles; from the front, from the side and from a three-quarter view. Enjoy a fully immersive hour of portraiture for an hour per week.

MONDAY 19TH JULY– 6:30PM (GMT)

FULL-FACE PORTRAITS – POSITIONING & DRAWING EYES

In this session you’ll learn to draw a face, as though you were stood directly facing your subject. Your teacher will show you how to draw eyes and how to position the features of the face.

MONDAY 26TH JULY – 6:30PM (GMT)

DRAWING PROFILES – PROPORTIONS & SIDE VIEWS

In this session you’ll be learning to draw a profile. You’ll practice deciphering the proportions of the face from a side view and learn to compose and shade two side facing portraits.

MONDAY 2ND AUGUST – 6:30PM (GMT)

THREE-QUARTER FACES – VIEWPOINT & ANGLES

This class will teach you to move from a full-face portrait (front facing) to a three-quarter facing position. You’ll be focussing on the different shapes created in the face when you change the angle from which you view it.

You will need:

  • Paper
  • Pencil – preferably 2B or softer (i.e., 3,4,5,6,7, or 8B). The darker the line the better!
  • Biro
  • Rubber
