Painting Landscapes – Town & Country

PAINTING HILLS | LOOKING THROUGH | BRIGHT BUILDINGS

 

Join us as we explore rolling hills and Mediterranean villages. Starting with a classic landscape, your teacher will teach you how to create a sense of distance and perspective in a series of hills and valleys. Next, you’ll explore looking through alleys and walking under bridges and finally you’ll be capturing the charm and vivid colour of villages perched on the edge turquoise water. Immerse yourself in colour for an hour each week and develop your creative skillset.

PAINTING HILLS – FORM & DISTANCE

In this session you’ll be capturing the beauty of two sets of rolling hills. Your teacher will show you how to create depth of field and explore ways in which to portray a sense of distance in your painting.

 

THURSDAY 1ST JULY – 6:30PM GMT

LOOKING THROUGH – FRAMING & PERSPECTIVE 

This class will take you for a walk through a beautiful Mediterranean village. As you peer down alleys and stroll beneath bridges, you’ll develop skills in framing your image and learn to create pockets of detail in your work.

 

THURSDAY 8TH JULY – 6:30PM GMT

BRIGHT BUILDINGS – COLOUR & FORM

In this session your teacher will support you in capturing all the charm of a colourful village perched on the side of a mountain. You’ll explore the use of bright colour and come away with beautiful paintings and a better understanding of effective composition.

 

You will need:

  • Pencil (preferably 2B or softer)
  • Rubber
  • Black pen or biro
  • Paper towel
  • Water
  • Watercolour paints
  • Paint brush (round and approximately size 10)
  • Watercolour paper
  • White wax. This could be a white candle, tealight or a crayon (OPTIONAL)

Join us as we explore the animal kingdom in watercolour. Starting with the bird family, your teacher will support you using colour effectively. Next, you’ll explore the beautiful hues of beetles and butterflies and finally you’ll be capturing the majesty of a whale and the captivating beauty of an octopus. Immerse yourself in colour for an hour each week and develop your creative skillset.

In this session you’ll be capturing the vivid colours of a parrot, flamingo and a cockerel. Your teacher will show you how to use colour effectively and you will explore the creation of texture with your paints.

PAINTING INSECTS – BLENDING & SHINE

This class captures all the beauty of the insect kingdom. As you paint beetles, butterflies and bumble bees, you’ll develop skills in colour blending and learn to create the illusion of shine on the page.

 

THURSDAY 29TH JULY – 6:30PM GMT

PAINTING SEA CREATURES – CONTRAST & TEXTURE 

In this session your teacher Jan will support you in painting a whale’s tail and stunning octopus. From contrast to texture, you’ll come away with beautiful paintings and a better understanding of the use of light and dark in painting.

Painting Still Life – Summer Fruit & Drink

 SUMMER DRINKS | VIBRANT FRUIT | REFRESHERS

 

Join us as we dive into painting a summery still life theme. From colourful drinks to vibrant fruit, your teacher will support you in learning to use your paints fluidly. There will be drinks on the menu, as you explore the cylindrical shapes of glasses and bottles. You’ll paint bright and beautiful fruits and end with a refreshing series of summer ice lollies. Plunge into watercolour for an hour each week and grow as an artist.

 

THURSDAY 5TH AUGUST – 6:30PM GMT

SUMMER DRINKS – FORM & CYLINDRICAL SHAPES

In this session you’ll be learning to create three-dimensional shapes with your paints. Your teacher will show you how to paint bottles and colourful drinks in glasses, whilst learning to move the paint fluidly.

 

THURSDAY 12TH AUGUST – 6:30PM GMT

VIBRANT FRUIT – COLOUR & PATTERN

In this class you will paint a still life classic; fruit. You’ll start with a bright pomegranate, leaning to blend colour and then develop skills in pattern making as you paint a tropical pineapple.

 

THURSDAY 19TH AUGUST – 6:30PM GMT

REFRESHERS – COMPOSITION & SHINE

In this session your teacher will support you in painting a colourful fruit smoothie and a series of joyfully colour ice lollies. From composing your work through to playing with colour hues and conveying reflection and shine, you’ll come away with a series of fantastic paintings.

Painting Plants – Flowers to Fungi

Join us in painting a beautiful array of nature inspired subjects. From flowers to fruit trees to fungi on the forest floor, your teacher will support you in creating contrasting shapes, organic patterns and inspiring colour. You don’t need any previous experience to join and you’ll come away with a better greater understanding of colour, contrast and form in watercolour.

In this session you’ll be painting sunflowers and geraniums. Your teacher will show you how to use light and dark tones to create three-dimensional form and and how to get the most out of your colour palette.

 

THURSDAY 23RD SEPTEMBER – 6:30PM GMT

PAINTING FRUIT TREES – CONTRAST & SHAPE

In this class you will capture the spirit of the Mediterranean in your paintings of an olive and orange tree. Using light and shadow you will learn to create contrast and strong shapes in the leaves and fruit of your paintings of these magnificent trees.

 

THURSDAY 30TH SEPTEMBER – 6:30PM GMT

PAINTING FUNGI– PATTERN  & FORM

In this session your teacher will celebrate the incredibly varied beauty of fungi. From incredible patterns to stunning graduations of colour you’ll capture it all in a series of fantastic paintings.
