Full-Face Portraits | Drawing Profiles | Three-Quarter Faces

Join us for a series of portraiture drawing sessions. Whether you are new to portraiture or drawing regularly, this series is a masterclass in drawing faces. You’ll learn to draw faces from three different angles; from the front, from the side and from a three-quarter view. Enjoy a fully immersive hour of portraiture for an hour per week.

 

MONDAY 19TH JULY– 6:30PM UK TIME

FULL-FACE PORTRAITS – POSITIONING & DRAWING EYES

In this session you’ll learn to draw a face, as though you were stood directly facing your subject. Your teacher will show you how to draw eyes and how to position the features of the face.

MONDAY 26TH JULY – 6:30PM UK TIME

DRAWING PROFILES – PROPORTIONS & SIDE VIEWS

In this session you’ll be learning to draw a profile. You’ll practice deciphering the proportions of the face from a side view and learn to compose and shade two side facing portraits.

MONDAY 2ND AUGUST – 6:30PM UK TIME

THREE-QUARTER FACES – VIEWPOINT & ANGLES

This class will teach you to move from a full-face portrait (front facing) to a three-quarter facing position. You’ll be focussing on the different shapes created in the face when you change the angle from which you view it.

 

You will need:

  • Paper
  • Pencil – preferably 2B or softer (i.e., 3,4,5,6,7, or 8B). The darker the line the better!
  • Biro

Join us as we explore the garden through drawing. Suitable for all levels, this series will provide you with rich subjects and wide-ranging drawing skills. You’ll learn to compose flowers, capture the charm of garden buildings and dip a toe into figure drawing. If you are inspired by the outdoors and want to develop a wide range of drawing techniques, this is the course for you.

In this session you’ll learn to create convincing form in your drawings. Your teacher will take you from daffodil to fuchsia to sunflower and show you how to master line direction in the creation of these beautiful blooms.

 

MONDAY 16TH AUGUST  – 6:30PM UK TIME

DRAWING GARDEN BUILDINGS –PERSPECTIVE & TEXTURE

In this session you’ll be learning to incorporate architecture into your drawings. From plant pots on steps to charming flower boxes on shuttered windowsills, you’ll learn all about perspective and how to create convincing textures.

 

MONDAY 23RD AUGUST – 6:30PM UK TIME

GARDENERS & THEIR TOOLS – FIGURES & VANISHING POINTS

This class will teach you how to use a vanishing point to create convincing perspective inside a green house. You’ll also be drawing a gardener at work and learn the to incorporate figure drawing into your skillset.

Join us in learning to convey the human figure. Perfect for all levels, this series is a comprehensive guide to figure drawing. You’ll start with your subjects standing, moving into reclined positions and finally your last session will teach you to capture movement in the human body. This is a fantastic and totally immersive opportunity to begin or progress in figurative drawing.

 

MONDAY 6TH SEPTEMBER – 6:30PM UK TIME

STANDING PEOPLE – SIMPLE SHAPES & NEGATIVE SPACE

In this session you’ll learn to draw the human figure in a standing position. From drawing people walking on the beach to a surfer standing with their board, your teacher will support you in creating simple shapes and the use of negative space.

 

MONDAY 13TH SEPTEMBER – 6:30PM UK TIME

RECLINED POSES – ANGLES & COMPOSITION

In this session you’ll be learning to capture the human body in more unusual positions. From your subject relaxing in a hammock, through to leaning against a wall, you’ll look at the human body from different angles and learn to compose each drawing in a simple and straight forward way.

 

MONDAY 20TH SEPTEMBER – 6:30PM UK TIME

PEOPLE IN ACTION – DYNAMISM & POSITIONING

This class will teach you how to position the human body to convey big bursts of movement. You’ll draw figures in motion and capture all the tension and energy in a dancer’s body.

 

You will need:

  • Paper
  • Pencil – preferably 2B or softer (i.e., 3,4,5,6,7, or 8B). The darker the line the better!
